You have to do a little looking to find a household with teenagers in it that does not also have an Xbox 360. You will find a lot of Wii's too but that is after a slightly different market. As always seems to happen in computer gaming systems one has risen to the top and that is the Xbox 360.
It is hard to believe that this all started with a single system that had a single game. That would be Pong. It ruled the 1970's till the early 1980's when Atari entered the picture, first with the 2600 then the 3200. They would soon fall to Sega and Nintendo then later Sony's Play station. In 2005 Microsoft got into the fray and things have not been the same. With over 41 million units produced, what has driven it?
At its core it has a lot to do with who produces it, Microsoft. The name it's self is not why people by it. Microsoft will be forever associated, for better or worse, with operating systems. It is what Microsoft does that gives it the edge. Its years of experience of getting systems to work together lets Xbox 360 offer unique services and well as the bells and whistles that are found on other systems, sometimes better.
Xbox 360 is a 7th generation gaming console but it does not just come in one configuration; it comes in several. One of the big selling points on the Xbox 360, however, is that it is backward compatible. This means that if you had one of the earlier Xboxes and decided to upgrade to the Xbox 360 you do not have to start over with all new games because all the old ones will still run. This, of course, will not stop you from going out and buying some of the best new games just to see what your new system will do. On top of that you don't even need to leave you house to get some of them. You can download all your favorite arcade classics too. Granted Frogger, Space Defender, and Mrs Pac-Man are a little tame compared to Halo 3 but still can be a fun little derision.
Do you like movies? Well Xbox 360 is a DVD player as well. Use it with the universal remote and you have a great space saver for a bedroom or dorm room. What if you don't have many movies? Just use Netflix and you will never run out of movies. Xbox Live also lets you compete against players down the hall or across the country. There is no reason to play alone anymore. There is also a long list of accessories, such as wireless controllers, with the list always growing longer. Some of them can be used with all games where others are made just for certain games to provide a better gaming experience.
2010 saw the release of the latest configuration so now is a great time to buy. You will not need to worry about something new coming out the week after you bought the latest one. So get your console and pick up a couple of the newest games and have some increadable fun.
